2009 US Junior Solo Bagpiping Championship Rules Light Music: Each competitor for the light music competition shall submit two 2/4 competition marches, two competition strathspeys, two competition reels. All tunes must have a minimum of four parts. Each competitor will be notified by the adjudicators of the tunes to be played within 15 to 30 minutes of the performance. Piobaireachd: Each competitor shall submit two piobaireachd, one of which will be selected by the adjudicators and conveyed to the competitor within 15 to 30 minutes of the performance. Code of conduct: All tunes shall be played from memory. Tutors are required to confirm that their pupil has reached a suitable standard. In the event of a tie, the outcome shall be dependent upon the competitor's final piobaireachd place. Entries must be received by Friday, October 2, 2009 and accompanied by the $20 entry fee. Only the competitor and his/her tutor will be permitted in the tuning rooms. There will be no exceptions. Only the competitor may tune his/her pipes in the competition room. Competitor's badges showing order of play will be given when competitors report to the stewards. Competitors are reminded that they must wear Highland dress, including a hat. No piper may compete unless dressed to the satisfaction of the stewards and competition committee. Competitors' choices of tunes may not be changed after the application deadline. The judges' decisions are final. Competitors may choose to compete in one or both of these competitions. The Overall trophy will be awarded to the drummer with the most combined points from both competitions. Medley A: one 2/4 competition march, one competition strathspey, and one competition reel played in succession. Medley B: one hornpipe, followed by one jig. All tunes must have a minimum of four parts. Code of Conduct: Each competitor must provide and be accompanied by a piper of his/her own choosing. The music shall be played from memory. Tutors are required to confirm that their pupil has reached a suitable standard. In the event of a tie, the outcome shall be dependent upon the competitor's final MSR performance. Entries must be received by Friday, October 2, 2009 and accompanied by the $20 entry fee. Only the competitor, his/her tutor, and his/her piper will be permitted in the warm up rooms.
