for details about the 2008 summer sessions in the coming months. The dates
are set and we are setting up the instructional staff listing.
In 2007 we moved the
location of the Illinois school to Naperville’s North Central College,
a new campus location and they welcome us back for another terrific session
in 2008. In Kentucky, we'll have a dorm to ourselves in 2008, separate
from the other groups on campus. The Sonoma State Univ. session in California
and East Stroudsburg Pennsylvania schools are on board for us in June and
July respectively.
A blossoming worldwide
enthusiasm for piping and drumming seems to be developing in recent years,
with more young people taking up these instruments. Indeed, the future
of these art forms is very dependent upon a new generation of pipers and
drummers learning to play correctly. With this in mind, The Balmoral School
hosted “The Balmoral Classic” featuring the first US Junior Solo Piping
Championship on November 10, 2007, and a concert at Pittsburgh’s Carnegie
Music Hall with a contender for the Scottish World Pipe Band Championship.
Congratulations to all who competed and thanks to all who enjoyed the weekend
of events.
